Seniors Reach Final but it's Disappointment for Under 11s
Sunday 11 April

AFTER LOSING to Scarborough in a league fixture during the week, New Marske put their disappointment well and truly behind them with a narrow 2-1 win over the same opposition yesterday to reach the League Cup final. Easington Colliery stand between New Marske and their first piece of silverware for two seasons after they beat Ryhope CW by the same scoreline. It is disappointment though for the UNDER 11's whose brave cup run came to an end today after they lost 2-0 to Marton FC in their league cup semi-final tie.

In the TJFA, goals from Howes (2), Reader (2), Boyes, Green and Powton contributed to the UNDER 16's magnificent seven goal beating of Whinney Banks, while a single strike from Charlie Amos was enough for the UNDER 9's who beat Great Ayton.

Jake Gent opened the scoring for the UNDER 11B's at Eaglescliffe before a halfway line clearance from Joe Henderson bounced over the home keeper to double the lead. New Marske didn't have it all their own way though as Eaglescliffe scored two late goals for a share of the spoils. It was a point also for the UNDER 10's for whom Callum Brundle scored a second half equaliser in their game with Stokesley.

The UNDER 13's travelled to league leaders Spraire Lads and put on a spirited performance but ultimately lost 4-2, Lewis Henderson and Sam Latham chalking for New Marske.

Poem

They stand on a field with their hearts beating fast
The whistle has blown, the die has been cast.
A goal at this moment would send the team home.
Mum and Dad cannot help, he stands all alone
The ball near his feet, he kicks and it misses.
There’s a moan from the crowd, some boo’s and some hisses
A thoughtless voice cries "Take off the bum"
tears fill his eyes, it’s no longer fun
If your tempted to shout or groan, Remember
it’s a child who stands all alone
So open your heart, give them a break.
It’s moments like this, a player you make.
Keep this in mind and please don’t forget
They’re only Children, not Adult’s yet
